CREATE A LEGACY TODAY
THAT WILL LIVE ON...
Include Friendship Shelter in your estate planning by making a bequest. A bequest is a gift from your estate—a transfer of cash, securities, or other property—that will benefit future generations. A bequest costs nothing now and enables you to contribute to Friendship Shelter far into the future.
Remembering Friendship Shelter with a bequest from your estate will help sustain and strengthen the organization in years to come. Some of the advantages of creating a bequest include:
-
A bequest costs nothing now yet gives you the satisfaction of knowing you have provided for Friendship Shelter in the future.
-
You retain control of and use of your assets during your lifetime.
-
You’re able to modify your bequest at any time if your circumstances change.
-
Gifts to Friendship Shelter from your estate are exempt from federal estate taxes.
-
If you let us know of your plans, we'll be able to thank you now and recognize you as a member of our Legacy of Friendship [If you prefer to remain anonymous we will keep your name and gift in confidence].
SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE
For an unresticted gift* that allows Friendship Shelter to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, please feel free to use the following language for your will and/or trust:
"I give (if a Will) or The Trustee shall distribute (if a Living Trust) the sum of $_____________; or the following property: _________________; or ________ percent of my estate [or trust estate, if a Living Trust]; or the residue of my estate [or trust estate] to Friendship Shelter ("FSI"). The gift is to be used to benefit FSI however it’s needed most."
If you have named Friendship Shelter in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in confidence.
Please contact Friendship Shelter’s Development Department at 949.494.6928 to discuss your legacy plans or for more information.
*If you would like to designate a specific use for funds, please consult with FSI’s Development Department.
